AUGUST 22: NEUROGRAPHIC STYLE ART

“Neurographic Art is a contemporary art form that combines elements of drawing, painting, and psychology. It was developed by Russian artist Pavel Piskarev in the early 21st century. The technique is rooted in the principles of neuroplasticity, which is the brain's ability to reorganize itself and form new neural connections.

The process of creating Neurographic Art involves using continuous, repetitive lines or shapes to form interconnected patterns. These patterns are then filled in with various colors, resulting in intricate and visually captivating compositions. The artist typically starts with a random or chaotic line and then gradually develops the image by following the contours of the lines and finding recognizable forms within them.

Neurographic Art is not only an artistic expression but also a therapeutic practice. It is believed to engage both hemispheres of the brain, fostering creativity, mindfulness, and relaxation. By focusing on the repetitive movements and patterns, the artist enters a meditative state, allowing for self-expression and emotional release.

The art form has gained popularity due to its accessibility and therapeutic benefits. It has been used in art therapy settings to help individuals manage stress, anxiety, and trauma. Neurographic Art workshops and classes are conducted worldwide, allowing people of all ages and artistic backgrounds to explore their creativity and enhance their well-being through this unique technique.

During our class time we followed the simple steps used in Neurographic Art to inspire our project. We did not use this process as a form of Art Therapy as it is a much more involved process and should be done by a certified practitioner. We did, however, discuss how to use art such as this project as a positive outlet for strong emotions through creative expression.”
